At the 2011 Reading Recovery Conference held in Columbus, Ohio, Pioneer Valley Books offered to match $20,000 to donations raised for the Reading Recovery Council of North America. Literacy expert Michèle Dufresne said recently, “Reading Recovery has the power to change children’s lives. While the data from Reading Recovery is compelling, my commitment to the program comes from my personal experience of seeing children go from passive and tangled, to enthusiastic and confident readers in 20 weeks or less." Throughout the conference, a bulletin board was set up for everyone to pledge a donation. Conference attendees came up to the Pioneer Valley Books booth to thank us for the matching pledge. According to the executive director of the RRCNA, Jady Johnson, by the last day of the conference, $20,505 was raised, for a grand total of $40,505!
It's always a good time to support the RRCNA. Your donation goes a long way to support children learning to read!
