Award-winning iPad application aimed at helping kids learn to read

Who Can Read? six leveled reading apps for iPad were honored by a Boston BookBuilder's award

May 15, 2015 - Northampton, Mass. – This month, Pioneer Valley Books was honored with an award from the 58th Annual New England Book Show, held in Boston, Massachusetts. The judges noted the app’s clean design, and age-appropriate typeface and imagery.

Pioneer Valley Books, a long-time publisher of fiction and nonfiction books for beginning readers, has released six new leveled apps preloaded with eight to ten books from the publisher’s extensive catalog. Each book features voice narration. The audio can be turned off as the child improves his or her abilities and begins to read on his or her own.

The apps are designed to be used in the classroom as leveled readers to give beginning readers an additional platform for learning instruction. Each app features books at a Guided Reading level, a commonly used leveling system in the classroom. Teachers will match up each student with books that are at their current reading level.

The Level A&B app features five books at Level A and five books at Level B.
The Level C app features eight books at Level C.
The Level D app features eight books at Level D.
The Level E app features eight books at Level E.
The Level F app features eight books at Level F.
The Level G app features eight books at Level G.

Pioneer Valley Books’ mission is to provide educators and parents with high quality books and other resources to support beginning readers in the successful acquisition of reading.
