Dive into a good book!

Now that it’s officially summer, and everyone is slurping popsicles, running under sprinklers, and doing all sorts of non-school activities, you might think that Colleen’s Cozy Book Corner is on vacation too. This is not the case! Books are exciting in any season, including a hot and sweltering one! We can dive into a good book just as easily as any pool. Let’s do it! KERSPLASH! Ahhh … the perfect way to celebrate the season. 

But we all know summer goes by quickly. You may have another month before you’re back in the classroom, or you may only have a couple of weeks or even days. So for this month’s Cozy Book Corner, I’ve found books that scream summertime and fun in the sun, books that celebrate life outside the classroom to keep that good ole summertime feeling going when you’re back to school. Luckily, it’s a celebration you can have whenever and wherever you find yourself, because a good book can transport you to any time or place you want to go.

Love the seaside? Bella and Rosie frolic in the surf in Fun at the Beach, and our favorite dragon builds sandcastles in Beach Time for Clarence. Curious about what happens under the surface of the water? In that case, add Fantastic Fish, Life in a Tide Pool, or The Dive to your reading list! Seeking tales about quintessential summertime activities? Then don’t overlook Fishing in the City, Catching Fireflies, and Reginald Goes to the Fair. Share these with your students when you’re back in the classroom, and a feeling of delight from reading these summery texts will float over them like an ocean breeze.
