Interactive Read-Aloud Celebrating Diversity
Our new series includes carefully curated trade books that have been selected to represent and support diverse classrooms. We have paired high-quality literature with lesson plans for read-aloud instruction that will extend and support comprehension instruction. These books will also provide teaching opportunities to spark conversations and highlight the positive effects of living in a diverse community—in the classroom and beyond.
Each title has a free downloadable lesson that includes a focus on SEL (social and emotional learning) geared toward building a culture of compassion within a diverse community.

NBCDI focuses on ensuring that all children are reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. Data demonstrates both the critical nature of this educational benchmark and the devastating performance of Black children, only 15 percent of whom are reading proficiently in 4th grade.

Seeks to transform the lives of millions of children by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, they develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children.
