Accompanying each book in the Pawprints Collection is a sturdy, laminated guided reading lesson card written by early literacy specialist Michele Dufresne. These easy-to-use lesson cards provide the busy teacher with suggestions for guiding readers through the first reading of the new book. As students read, the card offers prompting and reinforcement suggestions, story discussion ideas, follow-up teaching, and help working with second language learners. A phonics/word study lesson is also provided as a component to accompany the guided reading lesson. As the text becomes more complex across collections, so do the suggested phonics lessons.
